A midday long exposure of the abandoned Bahia Honda railroad bridge in the Florida Keys. The horizon is removed entirely, blending sky and water into a single field of color so the bridge appears to vanish into nothing, a deliberate push toward surrealism.
The bridge was part of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad, built in the early 1900s and largely destroyed by the Category 5 Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. Many of the laborers were WWI veterans who had survived a war only to lose their lives to the storm years later, mainly because there was little to no other work available to them.
Reading that history at the site affected me deeply. I'm a war veteran myself, and standing there changed how I saw the structure. What I felt is evident in this image, though the piece isn't illustrating that story directly. It's more about the tension: something built to endure, where men lost their lives, slowly disappearing anyway.

Captured midday while exploring the docks of a marina in Islamorada, Florida Keys. I came across a pelican perched atop a cluster of wooden pilings, the angle collapsing four posts into the appearance of three. The tide pulled at a boat tied off to the side, its line left soft and unresolved in the exposure, while the horizon dissolves away.
The pelican stays razor sharp against all of it — a still, deliberate point holding its perch above the drift and motion below.

Walking Through Stillness is a body of long-exposure work produced along the coastal edges of Florida and the Florida Keys. The series is defined less by geography than by sensation — the feeling of moving through a moment that has been frozen in time.
Each image is built around something that remains. Structures, vessels, creatures, ruins — subjects that have been overtaken by time, weather, or irrelevance, and are still standing. Long exposure does not dramatize their presence. It suspends it.
Each image is constructed to hold visual tension while resisting narrative closure. Nothing resolves. Nothing gestures toward spectacle.

This series examines what it feels like to inhabit a moment that refuses to pass — when the world goes quiet around something that endures.
Time is not used to smooth or beautify. It is used to isolate. To remove the noise of the present and leave only what persists.
